Tongariro Crossing
The Tongariro National Park is rich in cultural identity, it has dramatic scenery and unique land forms this combines to make the Tongariro Alpine Crossing a world-renowned trek. (Rated as the best one day trek in New Zealand and listed by many in the top 10 day treks in the world)
Many who complete the 17 kilometre journey will tell you the climbs can be steep and the weather can be unpredictable.

Travel to Tongariro National Park via rolling farm lands and kiwifruit country. Have dinner in a local café/ restaurant or cook together.
On Saturday, after early breakfast be prepared to the amazing Tongariro crossing! It will take about 8-9h to allow time for photos and any sidetracks, lunch and breaks. Have dinner in a local café/ restaurant or cook together.
On Sunday, there is time for relaxing and fun options before we travel back to Auckland at 3pm where we will arrive at about 7pm.
Weather conditions can change rapidly!
Be prepared with:
- Tramping boots (or good strong footwear)
- Day pack
- Wool jumper or fleece
- Waterproof coat
- Hat and gloves, sun block
- First aid kit
- Food and water
Enjoy a lot of fun options on your trip to Tongariro. Go crater walking or kayak the mighty Whanganui River. Have a great time while horse riding, quad biking or indo rock climbing.
