Rotorua, Taupo and Waitomo
Rotorua is a town on the southern shore of Lake Rotorua in the Bay of Plenty region of the North Island. Rotorua is well-known for geothermal activity. There are a number of geysers, notably the Pohutu geyser at Whakarewarewa, and hot mud pools located in the city.

Waitomo is a district in the southwest of the Waikato region.
The area's main industries include sheep farming, forestry, and limestone quarrying.
The area is known for the popular Karst Waitomo Caves, 12 kilometres northwest of Te Kuiti.
Taupo is a small urban area in the centre of the North Island. The name Taupo comes from Māori Taupō-nui-a-Tia. Literally translated, it means "The great cloak of Tia" where Tia is the name of the discoverer of the lake.
One of New Zealand's most spectacular waterfalls, the Huka Falls is close to the town on the nascent Waikato River.

We leave Auckland on Friday afternoon (between 2.15 and 3pm, depending on school). Friday night is spent in a backpacker in Rotorua. On Saturday, we explore the area around Rotorua, visit the famous Blue and Green Lakes and afterwards, there is plenty of time for your favourite fun options.
On Sunday, we travel to Taupo and stop at the famous Huka Falls where you can jump on the Huka Jet and enjoy a speed boat ride (optional). In the afternoon we will arrive at the Waitomo Caves where you can join a tour to view the glowworms these caves are famous for. Afterwards we travel back to Auckland where we arrive between 7pm and 8pm.
