The Bay of Islands is an area in the Northland region of New Zealand, close to the northern tip of the country.
It is one of the most popular fishing, sailing and tourist destinations in New Zealand.
Options
The Bay of Islands was the first area in New Zealand to be settled by Europeans. Whalers arrived towards the end of the 18th century, while the first missionaries settled in 1814.
The bay has many interesting historic towns including Paihia, Russell and Kerikeri. Russell, formerly known as Kororareka, was the first permanent European settlement in New Zealand, and dates from the early 1800s.

Depart schoon on friday between 2.30 an 3.00pm. Travel north via east coast beaches and farmlands. Visit 800 year old Kauri Tree. Arrive Bay of Islands, Pahia appriximately 7.30pm. Cook together or eat out at one of the many restaurants.
On Saturday we visit Cape Reigna and the 90 Mile Beach (optional) with included lunch. During the Cape Reigna tour you visit Kauri Kingdom, the world famous Cape Reigna lighthouse and see two seas crash together. Enjoy your included lunch and go sandboarding down the Te Paki sand dunes. Drive back to Pahia down the white sand of 90 Mile Beach. Over night in Pahia.
On Sunday, spend the morning in Pahia, go shopping, relax on the beach or enjoy some of the fun options (see above). Arrival in Auckland approximately 8pm.
